Bruce's Blank New Tab (BBNT) is a free Chrome add-on developed by microbru that aims to replace Google Chrome's default new tab page with a truly blank page. With no ads, no browsing trackers, and no browsing history, BBNT offers a clean and fast-loading new tab experience.
After installing and enabling BBNT, users can choose to have Chrome open to a blank new tab whenever they launch the browser. This can be done by going to the Chrome settings page and enabling the "Open New Tab page" option in the "On startup" section.
Additionally, users can set Chrome's home screen to use the new tab page as well, creating a clean and blank homepage. To do this, users can go to the Chrome settings page, enable the "Show Home button," and select "New Tab page" as the home screen.
To ensure complete transparency, users can right-click within any new tab page and select "view source" to confirm that there is no underlying code or content present, as BBNT utilizes minimal HTML to provide the blank page.
If users ever wish to revert back to Chrome's standard new tab page, they can simply disable BBNT in the Extensions settings page.
